Perfect Little Love Nest

By | interior & design, travel | No Comments

Peter_Bahouth_Treehouse_03

This looks like the perfect ‘Little Love Nest’. We are dreaming about a small hideaway near the beach. Something simple and within nature. No hustle & bustle, computers, I-phones just good company, food, games, conversation, cuddling and sleep.

This treehouse consisting out of three different spaces is built by Peter Bahouth in Atlanta. Check out more here.

Another day at the beach

By | Family, photography, travel | No Comments

I06A2231Yesterday we had another perfect day at the beach. This time we ended up in Zandvoort. We were planning to go to ‘Buitenplaats de Plantage’ but it happened to be closed so we decided to go to Zandvoort and I am glad we did. It was so nice to watch all the kitesurfers and the big waves.

We had lunch at Ubuntu Beach, a really nice and relaxing spot with good food and a super nice swing which Mette loved. We will definitely come back here.

Ofcourse my love made beautiful photo’s for our family blog All Thing Nous, our online family photo album. He puts so much time and effort in All Things Nous. It is such a precious blog keeping all our fun, special and intimate family moments; through our eyes into our memories. I will show more outtakes of All Things Nous here.

You can find more of his work here.

Small summer beach break

By | Family, travel | No Comments

ouddorp-10 We had a few perfect days last week in Ouddorp at the Dutch coast. The weather was perfect and it is always nice to have nothing else to do then spend time with your family! Joey made some really nice photo’s just before sunset on the beach.

We love the beach and we both know from our childhood how fun it is to be outdoors and near the sea a lot in weekends and holliday. Since we live in the city (close to the parc and with a nice roofterrace, lucky us) we really appreciate spending time in nature.

Our dream is to have a small shack, hut, cottage over here one day! I am collecting inspiration for our little love nest in nature over on my Pinterest.

Retreat yourself in Friesland

By | travel | No Comments

1rt

Last weekend I had some amazing days in Friesland. I met Willemien from Retreat Yourself because she ordered Lennebelle for her online shop. When I found out she organised days, weekends and even whole holidays for yoga, mindfulness and healthy cooking like ayurveda cooking I immediately thought I should book a weekend yoga & mindfulness. Already interested in both yoga and mindfulness and feeling I could use a (re) treat like this I booked a weekend in Friesland at ‘it Flinkeboskje’.2rt

After a 4 and a half hour travel by public transport cross country (which is really pretty) I arrived at this beautiful spot. A big farm turned into a guesthouse and holiday home. The surroundings and the whole interior and attention to detail were just perfect! I loved my cute little room. Across ‘it Flinkeboskje’ is another farm called ‘Flinkefarm’ here you can enjoy a monthly farmersmarket and other fun events like fairs, vintage and antique sales and more. Here you can find out about all the events. But you can also have your own event here like a wedding. I imagined how mine would be here! long tables in the field, dancing by candlelight in the farm, everybody can stay because they are planning a farmerscamping too.

The whole weekend was a beautiful experience. The other participants were really nice, the yoga lessons were relaxing and fun, held in the sunny conservatory, the food was delicious and super healthy and the mindfulness workshops were inspirational and something I should definitely continue.3rt

For more retreats by Retreat Yourself check out the website and Facebook page with a special post about our weekend!

For information about booking ‘it Flinkeboskje’ or events at ‘Flinkefarm’ take a look at their website and Facebook page.

Paris je t’aime! Sixth year anniversary with my love

For the first time in a two years we spend a romantic weekend together, just the two of us. We enjoyed a well deserved weekend in Paris celebrating our sixth year anniversary. We stayed at Mamma Shelter and just have ‘flâner‘ (strolled – wandered in French) around in Paris, mainly in st Germain and Le Marais.

There were three spots that we both liked a lot. L’Ilot, a cosy oister-bar. A small venue with long tables out side on a small nice square in Le Marais, serving seafood and delicous wines with really friendly staff. The second one was having a picnic in Jardin du Luxembourg, a beautiful parc with a nice pond where children can play with little sailboats. And third was a speakeasy called La Candelaria, hidden behind a taqueria you will find this little gem, a cocktailbar for the Parisian hipster. I loved my ginger, lemon, gin cocktail. I tried to make it at home but failed big time!

It was so nice to spend time together, no distractions, just us two in a pretty city like Paris!

All photo’s by my personal photographer! Find out more at Cloudcuckoo.

Our first Easter family trip

By | travel | One Comment

Vlieland

This Easter weekend we had our first family trip. We went to the lovely and smallest island Vlieland in the north of the Netherlands. It has just one street with some shops and small hotels and restaurants the rest is pure nature, only forest and beach. The weather was freezing but nice, big snow flakes or a the sun shining through the clouds.

We stayed at a really nice old fashioned and cosy hotel, Hotel Golfzang, fireplace, yummy breakfast, nice garden. We rented bikes, one cargo bike where Mette could sleep in and one ‘normal’ bike. We bicycled the whole island, went to the beach, ate pancakes, had a walk in the forest and went to bed early. We booked a night extra because we enjoyed it so much. Only family time, no work, no phone calls, just perfect!

En vacance

By | travel, treats & treasures, Uncategorized | One Comment

Tommorrow I will be going ‘en vacance’ with my best friends and kids (no husbands or boyfriends) to the south of France! Just a little week relaxing at the poolside and by the sea, reading a book, playing around, enjoying good food and company and nothing more. Really looking forward to it!

While I am enjoying ‘mes vacances’ check out this really nice blog ’88 Forever’ by Dutch photographer Danique. Don’t forget to take a look at the Swanmarket XXL post, I am somewhere in the middle!

Breakfast spots in Buenos Aires: Magendie

By | travel | 3 Comments

We discovered this gem the first morning in Buenos Aires around the corner of our bed & breakfast and still think it’s the best place to hang out for a coffee, breakfast or lunch. Taking time to plan your trip our chatting with friends (if you live in here) This place is called Magendie in Palermo Viejo and they know how to make a good breakfast to start your day. I loved all the details and they also had a little shop where I had to get this cute watermelon potholder. I wish it was still around the corner.
